Just The One Journal

I've not posted for a year and I've been through alot, quit drinking for 10 months now (which I will dedicate a whole post to soon), changed/quit numerous jobs and re-evaluating what I actually want to do as a career. In the meantime I want to come back to my blog as a chance to engage and share my passions and creativity. Starting with the V&A which I went to on Tuesday. The Horst Exhibition was packed and sold out online, and I decided to skip it as the pictures looked tiny and really badly curated. Instead I went to see the wedding dresses exhibit there.  V&A Wedding Dresses Massive queue and hadn't expected to pay as the exhibition's on for a year but it was well worth it. Beautiful dresses and unique styles that you rarely see in magazine and catwalks. Enjoy the pics! Gwen Stefani's Dress. I just keep seeing these incredible images in Vogue and Vanity Fair and absolutely adore them. Taken by  Vogue photographer Peter Lindbergh, n ot only are the bags perfect but Michelle Williams is the perfect actress for these adverts without being self-indulgent.

As my title suggests, It's Been A While..I have been busy on holiday in Spain (which I will post soon) and running around with work in London. But I haven't forgotten what has been inspiring me and I'll be posting them over the next few days...and to start: Top of The Lake The opening credits are really amazing. It's so nice to see real artistry and not animated and computer-generated work on the television. It reminds me of children's tv from the 80's such as Dangermouse, Top Cat and many others that were drawn by hand.

I love the V&A Museum and the section that always feels secret and always empty (and cool for this mini-heat wave in London!) is the Photography room. They recently changed their exhibition there and it was my favourite type of Actor/Photography and was super excited to actually see a real Cindy Sherman Photo when you first walk in. A beautiful sunny day spent wandering around the Blumenfeld Photography Exhibition at the Courtauld in Somerset House which I decided to go to after watching a fantastic BBC4 programme all about his life. You weren't allowed to take photos which was annoying but the exhibition is huge and there was hardly anyone there - highly recommend going. www.somersethouse.org.uk/visual-arts/blumenfeld-studio . Below are some of his most famous photographs as well as a few from walking around Temple area near Somerset House. I never knew this iconic photo was taken by Blumenfeld, it was the poster for the recent Grace Kelly dresses exhibition at the V&A This photo was a magazine cover and I was obviously the inspiration for Cath Kidston, whose dress (below) I was wearing on the day I went to see this exhibition!
